As a department our ethos is creativity for all.
What we want our pupils to love about Art is that being creative is fun and a wonderful opportunity for self-expression. Learning to problem solve is vital for all areas of life and risk taking allows us to engage with creative processes.
Parents can check the art department section on Google Classroom as useful information and worksheets are stored on there, as well as information on projects and how students can extend their learning. Students will benefit from having a space in which they can work and also if they have access to some basic art materials such as pens, colouring pencils and paints. If it is possible, students can really benefit from visiting galleries and museums to develop their knowledge and experience art first hand. Useful web-sites include:
Students can use the art department during lunchtimes and after school to work on individual projects or to complete class work/homework. Art clubs are run during the year - in the past these have included clay, printing and photography clubs. Details of these are displayed on the extra-curricular timetable at the start of the academic year. Throughout the year there are also opportunities for students to enter a range of art competitions; these can be found on the Opportunities Board in the art corridor.
