USEFUL TO KNOW
FINALLY...
You may have seen our recent social media post that #CGSTeamPE's very own Miss Browne is running the London Marathon next year to raise funds for Cork University Hospital in Ireland. One or two of our school community have asked for a QR code for donations - please see this below:

It has been a wonderful half term for Year 8. They have settled in well and have worked incredibly hard over the last few weeks.
We kicked off last week with a Careers assembly. Many thanks to Mrs Gates for her presentation, introducing Unifrog to Year 8 and the wonderful careers links it provides. Students were asked to complete their careers quiz which determines what possible careers students they could do based on their answers.
We then had Ms Den Dekker announce the Green Schools Project - a wonderful opportunity to explore how schools and students can learn about climate change and take practical action to fight it. A huge well done to the students who have signed up to take part in the project and its upcoming conference!
We have announced a couple of competitions this term including the annual House Photography Competition, with an ‘Autumn’ theme. We have also launched a ‘Season’s Greetings Card Competition’ (with an entry deadline of Friday 6th November). The winning three entries will be used as the School’s cards for students, staff and our wider CoombeUnity at the end of the year. Good luck to everyone who takes part!
COOMBE STARS!
Over 150 students have maintained ‘good’ attendance this half term, which is for being in school for 95% or more of the time. 93 students have maintained 100% attendance this half term - a huge well done to all of you!
I know it can be tricky this autumn term with cold and flu season approaching, but well done Year 8 for being in school as much as possible this half term.

It has been another positive and productive two weeks for Year 10!
We started the week with a focus on Careers, giving pupils a valuable opportunity to think ahead, explore future career pathways and begin considering the exciting opportunities that lie beyond their school years.
The week ended with a particularly inspiring assembly led by a doctor working in cancer research, who shared insights into her work and the important research she has been involved in. It was a fantastic opportunity for our girls to gain an insight into the world of medical research and hopefully inspire some of our future scientists and medical professionals!
Our Year 10 netball team also deserves a special mention following a closely contested match against TKA. Despite falling just short of victory, the girls showed fantastic determination and resilience, staging an impressive second-half comeback led by Ellie S, Ella W and Carina L. Although the result didn't quite go our way, their teamwork and fighting spirit were wonderful to see. Well done to everyone involved!
It has been lovely to see the year group continuing to settle into their GCSE option subjects and classes. There is a growing sense of focus and purpose across the year group, and it is encouraging to see so many pupils embracing the challenges and expectations of Year 10.
Over the past two weeks, we have had a particular focus on improving punctuality, both to school and to lessons. It has been wonderful to see the positive response from so many of our girls, with noticeable improvements in their punctuality. Well done to everyone who has made that extra effort to arrive on time and be ready to learn!
As a gentle reminder, our school gates open at 8:05am, and all pupils must be in their form rooms before 8:30am to be marked as arriving on time. We would really appreciate your continued support in encouraging your daughters to establish positive morning routines and arrive at school promptly. A punctual start makes such a difference to the day ahead!
As this is our final newsletter before the half-term break, I would like to wish all our pupils and their families a safe, restful and enjoyable break. I hope the girls take this opportunity to recharge and return refreshed, ready for another exciting half-term.
We are very much looking forward to welcoming everyone back as we begin the exciting lead-up to the Christmas holidays!
SHOW UP. STEP UP. KEEP GOING.

As we reach the end of our first half term, I want to congratulate Year 13 on their hard work, focus and commitment. It has been a busy few weeks, and it is great to see students continuing to rise to the challenges of their final year.
There has been a real surge in UCAS personal statements being submitted, an important milestone in the university application process. A huge thank you to our Careers Adviser and academic mentors for their continued support in helping students prepare for their next steps.
We have also made time for a little Halloween fun! Students enjoyed a special Halloween assembly, complete with popcorn, sweets and some spooky ghost stories, giving everyone a chance to relax and enjoy time together.
Our Geographers braved the rain for a fieldwork trip to Battersea, collecting data to investigate quality of life in the area. Looking ahead to next half term, our budding chemists will be visiting Kingston University for a Chemistry trip, while our Film and Media students can look forward to a cinema trip to watch *Disclosure Day*.
I hope all our Year 13 students and their families enjoy a well-deserved half-term break, make time to relax and enjoy the Halloween festivities. We look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for the next stage of the Year 13 journey.
